1. Name of State : Bihar.
2. Name of KVK : KVK Jale, Darbhanga.
3. Area of Intervention : Climate Resilient Technologies.
4. Title of the Technology : Cultivation of Shimla Mirch in Polyhouse.
5. Agro-ecology, Farming Situation Analysis with problem statement : Alluvial calcarious soil with neutral to alkaline pH. Fertility status is low to medium. About 1/4th of the cultivable land is low which is mainly suitable for Paddy in Kharif and summer vegetable, rest 3/4rd of area are medium to upland suitable for horticultural crops like Shimla Mirch in polyhouse, Fruits crops, kalkatia & meetha patta pan, vegetables etc. The cultivable area is occasionally come across with flood in the month of September. Wild pig and Nilgai are creating problems in crop production. Falling of pan (betal) occurs in winter mainly due to foggy days of December and January. Wilting and leaf curl in vegetable crop is also problem.
6. Brief description of technology, Justification including Innovation, if any, Implementation and support : Cultivation of shimla mirch is being done in polyhouse. Knowledge acquired in a farmer’s camp in Kolkata, technical support provided by KVK Jale, Darbhanga and financial support for polyhouse provided by District Horticulture Department, Darbhanga. Mulching, Drip irrigation system along with fogger are being used in polyhouse. Fogger is used in cultivation of pan (beetle) to prevent fall of betal leaf during winter. Sprinkler irrigation system is used in vegetable, pulse and oilseed crop. Use and production of vermicompost not only meet the nutritional need of soil but also maintain the soil health and provide extra income also.

8. Benefits (Economical and social): The annual income has been raised more than two times as the production cost has been reduced and production increased by using different modern techniques for crop production especially by the production of shimla mirch. Socio-economic status has been increased.
9. Adoption, Spread, up scaling of technology and future projection : By the adoption of modern technologies like polyhouse, drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, mulching, vermicompost and new type of crop in controlled condition (like shimla mirch) not only becomes beneficial from income point of view but also a motivating tools for others to adopt the technologies. More than 50 farmers adopted vermicompost technology, 10 farmers adopted drip irrigation system, 6 farmers adopted sprinkler irrigation and also many farmers of nearby village are showing interest towards cultivation of shimla mirch. In future floriculture in polyhouse is aimed.

4. Title of the Technology : Women power, the mushroom way
5. Agro-ecology, Farming Situation Analysis with problem statement : Alluvial calcarious soil with neutral to alkaline pH. Fertility status is low to medium. Mushroom production and Mushroom spawn production is being done in small area (2 kattha)
6. Brief description of technology, Justification including Innovation, if any, Implementation and support : I spent less amount on spawn for greater benefit and more productivity using layer wise method of spawning only. Before this we were using 50%. spawn for mixing in Wheat bhusa and 50% Spawn for layer wise spawning for Oyster Mushroom production. (Saving of 30-40% Spawn). I have changed the method of watering to save water and man power using whole cycle of Oyster mushroom production in the poly bag itself (Saving of 'WATER' and 'MAN POWER' ( Labour costing). To enhance self life of mushroom & sustainable marketing of mushroom's different products i.e mushroom pickle, mushroom powder, mushroom bari, mushroom sukhauta etc was developed & introduced in Darbhanga,Madhubani and Sitamadhi district.

8. Benefits (Economical and social): My socio-economic status has been changed. The socio-economic status of others who are associated to us has been also changed. Nutritional security and level of education has been also increased.
9. Adoption, Spread, up scaling of technology and future projection : By adopting vermicompost as a casing material resources were saved. Since adopting of Mushroom Production Technologies (2010), a total 518 landless and Poor women belonging to different communities , more than 250 kaidi (in Darbhanga Jail)and more than 900 people from different district of Bihar and other parts of India (Facebook friends also) were trained. They are producing Oyster and Button Mushroom. They are earning 2000 to 5000 per-month. Further these trained farmers and farm women had demonstrated the production technologies among thousands of families. The families have now accepted the mushroom and added it in their diet. More than 500 families have started Oyster Mushroom cultivation with 5-10 bags, besides their own consumption.

Wilting and leaf curl are major disease which affect yield and net profit.
6. Brief description of technology, Justification including Innovation, if any, Implementation and support : Hybrid vegetable productions of Cauliflower, Pumpkin, Cucumber, Tomato, Vegetable pea are cultivated. Intercropping of cauliflower + pumpkin, vegetable pea + pumpkin, sugarcane + vegetable pea + cucumber/pumpkin are suitable intercrop adopted. Sponge guard + spinach/amaranthus + coriander/radish are grown as two-tier cropping system. Integration cattle with vermicompost not only maintain the fertility status but also play a major role in income generation. Technical support has been provided by KVK Jale, Darbhanga for adoption in village.
