Speciality of KVK

KVK, Darbhanga is working as leading scientific institution in the field of agricultural science to deciminate the recent advancement in agricultural technologies by demonstration, on farm trial, training and other extension methodologies like Kisan gosthi, Kisan mela etc. in the district. Keeping the potentiality of the district in various agricultural sector like crop science, horticulture, soil science, plant protection, fisheries, animal husbandry etc. KVK has established different demonstration units viz. vermi-compost unit, carp hatchery, paddy cum fish culture, model nursery for horticultural crops, poly house, shed net, mushroom unit, crop cafeteria for kharif and rabi crops, Soil testing Lab, Mobile Soil Testing Laboratory (MSTL) Van etc. to deciminate the technologies effectively among the farming community through learning by seeing and doing processes. As a result farming community motivated towards adoption of advances in different technology for their betterment and enhancement of productivity and profitability of different crops.

Good quality seed and planting material, organic farming, resource generation technology, pond fish management, Integrated farming system, fruits & vegetable preservation, value addition of banana fiber, Mithila painting, fabric painting, tailoring & stitching are the prime concern which are attracting the young generation and rural youth for establishing agri enterprises & self employment. A part from this, KVK is providing diagnostic services to the farmers for on spot solution and overall food security, nutrition security and economic security to the farming community.
